Installing Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021 en-us CTR v16.0 alongside Microsoft Project 2016 MSI
Can we install Microsoft Office Click-To-Run 'CTR' alongside Microsoft Office MSI on the same machine?
For example, Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021 - en-us CTR alongside Microsoft Project Professional 2016 MSI on the same machine Windows11.
The answer is 'Yes', we can install MS Office Click-To-Run alongside MS Project Professional MSI on the same machine Windows10/11.
How do we install Microsoft Office Click-To-Run 'CTR' alongside Microsoft Office MSI on the same machine?
Microsoft doesn’t let you install both versions of these products side by side, which can cause headaches for IT admins in workplaces. Some have mentioned that Access, Visio, and Project 2016 are only available as Click-to-Run versions through Microsoft Imagine.
The problem is, if Office was installed using the older MSI method, you can’t add these Click-to-Run apps to the same computer—they just won’t work together.
As mentioned here in this blog [https://www.borncity.com/blog/2018/07/25/office-click-to-run-und-msi-version-parallel-installieren/]:
It turns out that installing both versions side by side might actually be possible. As mentioned also in a TECHNET forum post discussing this issue. In the thread, someone explained that their university ran into trouble trying to use Office 2016 (installed via MSI) along with MS Project and Visio 2016 from MSDN (which use Click-to-Run).
The workaround solution
Navigate to ➡️
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ProPlus2021Retail - en-us
➡️In the left side right-click at any empty location in Regedit ➡️ New ➡️DWORD (32-bit) Value ➡️Name it: SystemComponent ➡️Value: 1
🪟Close RegEdit, goto: Programs (Add/Remove Program) and check if the the current installation 'ProPlus2021Retail' or your CTR 'Click-To-Run' installation still exists, because the previous workaround will hide 'ProPlus2021Retail' from Add/Remove programs.
